HAVING recorded the highest growth of 11.4 per cent in tourist arrivals last year, the Tamil Nadu Government has decided to take up concerted efforts in organising publicity and marketing campaigns for further promoting tourism in the State.

Towards this, the TN Tourism Department has chalked out a plan to organise a series of road shows across the country and disseminate firsthand information to the prospective tourists through the local media and travel trade, according to the Assistant Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism, Mr R. Perumalsamy.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said in the first phase the Department plans to organise road shows at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, New Delhi, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Mr Perumalsamy said the State offers everything that a tourist wants to experience barring the snow-capped peaks. The road shows campaign titled `Enchanting Tamil Nadu, Experience Yourself' was aimed at promoting Tamil Nadu as a heaven for tourists offering something to everyone, he said.
