ALL income-tax offices throughout the country will remain open on October 29 and 30 for accepting the returns of income.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has issued directions to income-tax authorities for making such arrangements, according to an official release.

The due date for filing of returns of income by corporate assessees and the assessees whose accounts are required to be audited under Section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961 or any other law is October 31, 2005.

The income-tax help centres will also remain open on October 29 and 30 to facilitate preparation of returns by tax payers. The help centres facilitate tax payers to prepare returns of income and challans, computing of taxable income, calculating tax payable, render tax related advice and to accept application forms for Permanent Account Number.

About 118 help centres have been set up at 43 stations in the country for the benefit of the public, and represent an assisting hand for small taxpayers.
