THE Andhra Pradesh Government would provide matching facilities as given by several States and look into the imposition of VAT (value added tax) with regard to canteen services and departmental stores of the defence.

The State Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said he was aware of the anguish on the imposition of 70 per cent sales tax on liquor and VAT on other goods sold through Canteen Stores Department.

"I have directed officials concerned to look into the issue. I am aware that the exemption of VAT to canteen services departmental stores and excise and sales tax concessions to Armed Forces personnel on sale of liquor is the only concession given by State Government to service personnel of the State," he said in his address at the Military-Civil liaison conference - 2005, here on Tuesday.

Dr Reddy said his Government would also provide all the help required for the upcoming World Military games.
