EIGHT months after entering the VAT (Value Added Tax) regime, the Andhra Pradesh Government is contemplating to set up an enforcement directorate to look into VAT-related issues.

According to Mr Konathala Ramakrishna, Minister for Commercial Taxes, the Government would have a structure to take care of the enforcement of the VAT Act. While asking officials to reach the targets, he urged them not to go in for coercive measures to enforce the Act.
