A group of management students from the University of Kansas, headed by Prof Kissan Joseph, University of Kansas, USA, shared their experiences with the invited audience comprising representatives from member companies and management students at a meeting organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce here.

Explaining the changing trends in the field of global marketing mainly caused by the advent of technology, Prof Joseph traced the progress made in the field of marketing from the days of direct marketing to online marketing.

With the assistance of specific case studies, he explained how the use of internet had greatly increased the market space available for organisations to market their products and services.

Modern methods

He pointed out that companies around the world were inventing modern methods to reach out including strategies to make users themselves market the products in order to get better rates and benefits.

Coupon usage

Prof Kissan dealt at length about the increasing use of “coupons” to select target groups for specific products and discussed about the differential pricing strategies applied online by service organisations such as airlines and hotels.

The meeting was also addressed by Mr George Paul, Director, Synthite Group of companies, who shared his experience in the field of marketing strategy.

Mr Vijay Narayan Govind, Chairman, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the gathering and Ms Sujatha Sunil, Executive Branch Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
