Talking to presspersons, Mr Ram Menon, Senior Vice-President, Worldwide Marketing, Tibco, said this collaborative academic programme would help address the industry wide shortage of skilled IT graduates through the inclusion of advanced software technology in the college curriculum.

He said engineers from the Pune development centre would provide practical hands-on training for the faculty of I2IT and it would offer its products, Tibco business works, and Tibco adapter for files, Tibco adapter for active database and Tibco adapters for SAP.

Mr Menon noted that this is the first of such academic partnership in the country, though it takes in interns to work on their summer projects from many institutions. He said Tibco was also looking at institutions in Bangalore and Hyderabad for such alliances but nothing had been decided upon.

"Tibco Pune centre also houses the KPO (knowledge process outsourcing) centre, which began its operations in September this year.
