Kolkata, July 24 The Railway Ministry has changed the timings and the days of run of the Maitree Express, the passenger train that runs between India (Kolkata) and Bangladesh (Dhaka), according to an official release.

With effect from August 1, the train will leave Dhaka Cantonment at 9.30 a.m. (BST) on Tuesdays and Sundays and reach Kolkata at 6.45 p.m. (local time) the same day. The train will leave Kolkata on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7.10 a.m. to reach Dhaka Cantonment the same day at 7 p.m.

The journey time thus will get reduced from 11 hours 50 minutes to 10 hours 20 minutes on the Kolkata-Dhaka run and from 13 hours to 10 hours 45 minutes on the Dhaka-Kolkata run, the release adds.
