Kolkata, July 31Paradip Port Trust (PPT) proposes to construct four more berths -- two POL berths for the proposed refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation and two multipurpose cum container berths. This was indicated by Mr K Raghuramaiah, Chairman of PPT, to Mr A P V N Sarma, Secretary, Shipping, during his recent visit to Paradip. While the oil berths would be built by the port authorities, the other two berths would be on BOT basis, Mr Raghuramaiah, told Business Line. The Shipping Secretary also promised to push the proposal for two other BOT berths, one each for handling coal and iron ore. The proposal is awaiting the final approval of PPPAC (Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee). During his visit, Mr Sarma commissioned a 1350 HP locomotive. With this, the number of locomotives at Paradip port rises to eight. He also laid the foundation stones for ``Biju Sadan", a modern auditorium, and "Paradip Bhavan", a commercial complex.
