That private civil aviation has taken wings is well known. But the Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, had some news for CPI(M) MP Sitaram Yechury, recently. According to Yechury, during a casual conversation in the corridors of Parliament, Patel asked him to guess where in India were the largest number of private jets registered. Yechury thought it was Mumbai, but Patel surprised him when he said it was Bellary in Karnataka. The owners of the iron ore mines in the Bellary-Hospet region are said to be jetting around these days.
