Indian, the national carrier, will be introducing a new international air link between Bangalore and the Male (Maldives) from November 2. The direct flight will be operated with Airbus A-320 aircraft, offering 20 seats in Business Class and 125 seats in economy class. Operating five days a week, except on Tuesdays and Fridays, flight IC 965 will leave Bangalore at 10:30 hours and reach the Male at 12:00 hours (local time). In the return direction, flight IC 966 will leave Male at 12:50 hours (local time) and reach Bangalore at 15:15 hours, said an official release. The new link would cater to the growing outbound and leisure traffic from India and particularly to the booming travel market out of Bangalore. It would also facilitate both expatriate Indians in Male and also Maldivians travelling to/from India for various reasons such as medical assistance, studies, besides tourism.

Indian has announced an introductory fare from Rs 10,000 for a return trip on economy class from Bangalore. Indian is currently operating a daily service between Thiruvananthapuram and the Maldives.
