THE Director of Mangalore Airport, Mr M.R. Vasudeva, has said that the construction of a second runway in Mangalore is likely to be completed by December.

Participating in the agency award function, organised by the Mangalore office of Indian Airlines, he said the construction of the second runway would help carriers to operate wide-bodied aircraft from Mangalore to metros and West Asian countries.

Mr Sudhir P. Ghate, Chairman and Managing Director of Magnum Intergrafiks Ltd, Mangalore, said that travel agents should work together to attract tourist traffic from abroad. Charter flights should be operated from foreign countries to Mangalore, he said.

Akbar Travels of India Pvt Ltd, Mangalore, was awarded the first prize for highest sales during 2003-04 in the domestic and international circuits.
