SPICEJET, the low-cost airline, has forayed into the South by launching services from Hyderabad and Chennai.

Beginning Monday, the airline would operate daily services from Hyderabad to Chennai and Kolkata and from Chennai to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi.

With the launch of new services, the total number of daily flights has gone up from 24 to 35. It now operates from 11 cities.

Telugu film star Chiranjeevi flagged off the Hyderabad-Chennai flight early on Monday morning. "This signals our attempt to reach out to the masses. Our target is to tap those who have never ever been in flights and those who travel in trains," Mr Ajay Singh, Director of SpiceJet, said.

Addressing a press conference here, he said there was a huge potential for the aviation industry in the country.
