India Gateway Terminal Pvt, the container terminal operator at Kochi Port Ltd, has planned various activities at Willingdon Island in connection with World Environment Day on June 5.

The celebrations include the formal inauguration of Green Belt area at ICTT Vallarpadam by planting saplings by Mr C.J. Mathew, Development Commissioner, Vallarpadam Special Economic Zone. A green challenge competition aimed at spreading awareness among IGT employees on the importance of reducing carbon footprint has also been scheduled.

To spread the environmental day message amongst general public, a bicycle rally from Rajiv Gandhi Container Terminal (RGCT) to International Container Transshipment Terminal, Vallarpadam by IGT employees will be flagged off at 7.30 am.

Distribution of badges to IGT employees for spreading messages on World Environment Day 2010 Theme ‘Many Species, One Planet, One Future', and leaflets on energy conservation, ways to reduce vehicular pollution and rainwater harvesting etc, will be done on the day. Unveiling of paintings on environmental messages done on ICTT terminal boundary wall will also be done on the day.
