OSIM India launches first flagship store in Gujarat

OSIM, the $1-billion global leader in healthy lifestyle products, is eyeing the Rs 200-crore business which is likely to develop in this sector in the next five years, with the company's own share being projected between Rs 50 crore and Rs 100 crore, a company official saidon Thursday.

After launching its first flagship store in Gujarat, Mr Shaily Grover, Managing Director of OSIM India, told

that with fast-changing lifestyle, massage-related products are becoming as popular in the country as they are in China, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and other nations.

More outlets

OSIM, which has 45 outlets in India, including 10 exclusive sales showrooms, plans to increase the number to 70 outlets in the next two to three years to reach out to this emerging market.

In Gujarat, the company is set to open more outlets in cities such as Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot, he said.

Replying to a question, Mr Grover said people were now more aware of a healthy lifestyle with the opening up of the country's economy and such products were now finding their way into homes and even offices. The market of fairness creams alone, for instance, has now swollen to Rs 5,000 crore in India, he said.

Range of products

Mr Grover, who is also Director of Saboori Collezione, an international collection of spa furnishings, also inaugurated their outlet here to offer a comprehensive range of health, fitness and personal spa range of products.

OSIM India introduced the Rs 21,800-`iSqueez', claimed to be the world's first and only massager that helps relax calves, ankles and feet. It also introduced the Rs 3.37-lakh full-body massage chair, "iDesire", that provides the ultimate massage therapy through eight pre-programmed sessions for specific health objective.
