Andhra Bank, in association with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), has announced the launch of `AB e-R@il', a facility to book Railway tickets online.

Customers must use Andhra Bank debit cards for the purpose and will be charged service charge of Rs 10 per transaction. They can book tickets at www.irctc.co.in. They can opt to print the ticket or have it couriered.

Cancellation can be done only at Railway counters, which would also attract a bank fee of Rs 10 per transaction.

However, no cash would be paid to the customer at the time of cancellation; their account would be credited after four days.

Mr D.N. Mathur, General Manager of South-Central Railways, handed over e-tickets to select customers at a function on Tuesday.

Mr K. Ramakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Bank, said that the bank is the first to have tied up with the Railways for such a facility through debit card.
