MANGALORE: Mr R. Bhaskaran, Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), has said that risk is a major component in financial transactions. Delivering a lecture on `Fixed income securities management and derivatives' at Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district on Monday, he said risk has to be managed rationally for profit and return.

Bond as a financial instrument is exposed to different kinds of risk. Larger the period of bonds, less is the volatility. He termed bank deposits as the simplest fixed income security. A press release by the institute said that Dr N.K. Thingalaya, Chairman of the Academic Council of the institute, and Dr M.S. Moodithaya, Director of the institute, were present on the occasion.
