The so-called neighbourhood shops enjoy the favour of their customers. The local retailer understands marketing; he knows customer is king. He has kept up with changing times.

For instance, he now keeps the shelf stocked with branded items and makes door deliveries even when the purchased items are few. The neighbourhood retailer greets you in the local language, is ready with a smile and enquires about the family; he becomes a good friend and a part of the family. The big stores cannot replace this experience.
