THE UAE has introduced a new 90-day entry visa renewable for the same period, for special categories of professionals.

A decree issued by the UAE Ministry of Interior stated that the new three-month entry visa will be in addition to the present visit visa for all types of visitors to the UAE which is extendable only for a maximum of three months, according to a report in the official Emirates News Agency.

The new visa, according to the decree, shall allow its holder to work in the country on emergency assignment for a private or public institution on condition that the institution sponsoring the holder of the visa operates within the country in a licensed commercial activity or the sponsor is an official body.

The visa will be issued to some categories of professionals, including engineers, medical doctors, lawyers and technicians, who are highly qualified and are coming to the country on a special assignment at the invitation of Government or private institutions operating in the country.

The visa holders can be accompanied by their family, the decree said, adding that the visa will be issued only after approval by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs after all laid-down rules and conditions related to the private sector have been met to safeguard the interest of all parties.

The entry permit will allow its holder to stay and work in the country for six months and will cost Dh 600 and renewal will cost Dh 1,200.
