Village elders and panchayat members from Manesar attended a prayer meeting held by Maruti Suzuki at its car factory in the region on Sunday.

The gathering, where employees were also present, was held in memory of Awanish Kumar Dev, a senior company official who had died in the violence at the Maruti’s Manesar facility on July 18. The clash had also left 96 others injured, after which the company declared a lockout from July 21.

Last Thursday, the company had announced that the lockout would be lifted from August 20 with the restart of production for the Swift and Dzire models.
