THE JOSHI'S MUSEUM OF MINIATURE Railways in Pune has added yet another feather to its cap by manufacturing a scale model of Switzerland's popular Jungfrau Railway, which is Europe's highest railway and named after the Jungfrau mountain.

"We have received an order from the management of Jungfrau Railway for 2,000 pieces, of which 300 have already been supplied and 500 more will be dispatched by this month-end," says Ravi Joshi, promoter of Joshi's Museum.

"It all began in February 2007 when Soni Abraham, the tourism agent of Jungfrau Railway, contacted us for the models and provided the drawings for them."

Joshi's prepared a sample model and showed it to the railway in May 2007. The sample was approved and the order followed. "Special machinery has been procured for manufacturing injectionmoulding dyes and now we are manufacturing and packaging the static scale model of this world famous railway,"Joshi says.

Jungfrau Railway is the rack and pinion type, which has a gear between the tracks to help climb steep slopes. It is popular with tourists globally and many of them wish to take the static scale model home as a keepsake, Joshi says.

The scale models will be sold at the various stations of Jungfrau Railway. A team comprising 12 professionals is currently working on the order for 2,000pieces, which must be delivered by September-end.
