The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, on Monday said that the Government has already initiated investigations into the sources and routes of funding for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He also said that “no guilty or wrong doer would be spared”.

“The department concerned has already started the investigation process. All aspects including sources of funding and routes through which the funds arrived would be looked into. Appropriate action as per law would be taken,” Mr Mukherjee told the Lok Sabha today.

He was responding to the Opposition parties, which raised the IPL episode involving the former Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Shashi Tharoor, who quit yesterday.

With Mr Lalu Prasad (RJD), Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) and other party leaders including some from the Left Parties continuing to raise the issue in Lok Sabha, Mr Mukherjee said, “We will look into all aspects.”
