One of the first things that Arvind Kejriwal did after being elected as the chief minister of Delhi was to set up a corruption hotline. This initiative, meant for citizens to complain and get advice on carrying out sting operations to nab the corrupt red-handed, is a step towards making the aam aadmi the de-facto anti-corruption cell. Predictably, this has led to a spike in demand for spying devices. Here are the bestsellers:
Camcorder glasses: These fashionable spectacles let you record everything you see, in high-definition. With a 60° field of view and a microphone range of 2m, they’re perfect for “stingvestigations”. With a removable flash drive (8GB), it works for up to three hours on full-charge (Rs 7,000).
Wristwatch: They might look like your average Rolex knockoffs, but these watches are anything but average. With their 5 mega pixel pinhole camera, 4GB in-built memory and 12-hour battery life, they are built for reconnaissance. What’s more, they even tell the time (Rs 4,500).
Button camera: Said to be the “world’s smallest AV recorder,” the button camera is also one of the most popular devices. It has 2G connectivity, so the recording can be monitored in real-time from a remote computer and weighs less than 18gm (Rs 3,000).
Key ring: Designed like a car key, it is impossible to guess that this is actually a high-definition, night vision camera with video, image and sound recording features. Phew! On full-charge, the key ring functions for up to 75 minutes (Rs 7,000)
Pen: Just slip it in your vest-pocket and its 1-2-3 action. This pen camera boasts a 16GB microSD card, and supports uninterrupted record-ing for over an hour (Rs 3,000).
Photo frame: Religious or not, this photo frame-camera with an image of Krishna is the answer to all your prayers. With infra-red remote control and motion-activated record-ing, you can get crystal-clear clips of all things suspicious (Rs 25,000).
