It was an evening celebrating good advertising at the fourth edition of the IndIAA awards in Mumbai last week. Instituted by the India Chapter of International Advertising Association (IAA), to award “real advertising that captures the heart of India”, a lot of purposeful creativity was on show.

While the ads were heartwarming, the scene stealers at the event were a disruptive act by Cirque du Soleil’s director Stefan Haves, who took gentle digs at advertisers and the soft launch of The Gutenberg Galaxy. This collector’s item on “Case Studies in Print Advertising” was launched by IAA India Chapter president Ramesh Narayan, McCan World Group India CEO Prasoon Joshi, Abhishek Karnani of Free Press Journal and Suresh Narayanan, MD of Nestle India.

The book showcases selected best print advertisements created between January 1 2016 and December 31, 2017 and is the initiative of India chapter of IAA supported by The Free Press Journal. The actual launch of the book is on September 18.

Ogilvy and Lowe Lintas walked away with the most number of awards. What set apart the winners, according to jury chairman Suresh Narayanan, was “ “Purpose, tone, creativity and impact they created”.

The other winners included Leo Burnett, Publicis India, Hyper Collective, L&K Saatchi, Famous Innovation, The Womb, Mullen Lintas, Cartwheel Creative Consultancy, FCB Ulka, McCann Worldgroup and Zeno Group India.

Riding high after the record viewership it got for FIFA World Cup, Sony Pictures Network is hoping to score another hit with the inaugural edition of the UEFA Nations League, the telecast for which began on September 6. The UEFA Nations League has been created for the 55-member nations of UEFA, the European governing body of football. This will largely replace international friendlies in Europe. The first edition of the UEFA Nations League, to be played across the European continent, includes 2018 FIFA World Cup Champions France along with Croatia, Belgium, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal and more.

With the acquisition of UEFA Nations League and UEFA EURO 2020, SPN is the official broadcaster of eight premier international football properties in the Indian subcontinent, including UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, LaLiga, Serie A, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Cup. All the action will also be available for exclusive live-streaming on SPN’s OTT platform, SonyLIV.

New alliance

Design and digital company, The Minimalist, has announced a strategic alliance with Dutch agency Brand Dialogue that is led by global branding and creative expert Willem Woudenberg. The relationship will strengthen The Minimalist’s presence across Dutch and European markets. It will allow Woudenberg to leverage The Minimalist’s expertise and skill for projects in India and abroad.
