Embrace, a US-based medical device company, has introduced Embrace Thermpod, designed to maintain the body temperature of premature and low birth weight babies. The product has three components – a BabyWrap for the infant, a WarmPak of phase change material, and an AccuTemp heater to warm up the WarmPak. The warmer uses electricity supply for 25 minutes to maintain a temperature of approximately 37 degrees C for at least four hours.
The design of the warmer is meant to ensure no direct contact of the infant with electricity. It is reusable and aids situations where babies have to be transported from smaller clinics to bigger hospitals. The Thermpod is designed for use only by clinically trained caregivers. Hospitals can get information, pricing details and purchase the product by contacting Embrace's sales division at 1800 1022 088.
