Vikram Gaikwad, founder, Underdog Communications’ initiation into advertising happened at age 11, when he was an apprentice in his father’s shop, interacting with and convincing consumers to buy his wares. The apprenticeship helped him finance his degree at the Sir J J Institute of Applied Art. He graduated as one of its star students in 1990.
Lowe (then, Lintas), Enterprise, Leo Burnett and Grey Worldwide all benefited from his acute eye for detail, his lucid sense of art and his ability to impeccably execute an idea. In 2007, Gaikwad joined Sajan Raj Kurup as a part of his founding team at Creativeland Asia..
He also worked very closely with the Late Prof RK Joshi (a legend in Indian Typography) for more than a decade. Vikram was involved in many design and type design projects through IDC, IIT and has designed fonts for Microsoft’s (OTF for Windows XP) Tamil and Malayalam OS.
In January 2014, Gaikwad started Underdog with Vistasp Hodiwala.
