Multi System Operators (MSO) and cable operators will have to establish a complaint centre for consumer grievance redressal and to cater to service requests.
Operators will also have to redress consumer complaints within eight hours. On Monday, TRAI issued its consumer charter for cable TV services, which says that operators will have to give a 15-day notice to consumers before disconnecting cable TV services.
All MSOs will also have to offer both pre-paid and post-paid option for monthly subscription fees.
TRAI has said that operators will have to offer three schemes for set top boxes.
This includes outright purchase, rental and hire purchase. MSOs will also have to maintain Web sites giving details of these offers.
