At least 21 workmen received burns in an accident in one of the nine units of the 4,600-MW thermal power plant of Adani Power Ltd at Mundra in Kutch district on Wednesday.
Eight of the workers with “nominal injuries” were provided first-aid while the remaining 13, who suffered various levels of injuries, were shifted to Ahmedabad and were being provided “high quality” medical care at super-specialty hospitals, a company spokesman said here.
Unit shut In a statement, the company said that hot water splashed from the vent of a flash tank during start-up after a two-day shut-down. “During the start-up, some steam is normally allowed to vent.”
During this process, 21 workmen in the unit were injured by the splashing of hot water, following which the unit was shut.
