The Technopark-based ARS Software Engineering, subsidiary of the Netherlands-headquartered ARS Traffic and Transport Technology BV, is entering the Indian transportation and logistics industry with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions.

Clients of ARS Software Engineering include major traffic and transport related organisations in Europe, both public and private and road-and-rail related.

ITS aims to marry information and communications technology with transport infrastructure through applications in basic management systems.

These range from car navigation, traffic signal control systems, container management systems, variable message signs, automatic number plate recognition, speed cameras to more advance applications that integrate live data and feedback from a number of other sources such as parking guidance or weather information.

ARS Software Engineering has completed 10 years of operations in Technopark and has been providing ITS services and solutions to mainly the European customers of their parent company.

The company has been operating in India for a decade and now it feels it is time to enter the domestic market at a time when huge infrastructural development taking place across the country, Mr Jan H. Linssen, Chief Executive Officer, told newspersons here on Wednesday.

The global market for ITS is expected to reach $18.5 billion by 2015 and the Indian market, $0.5 billion.

“India is a virgin market for us and we see huge opportunity for our solutions here and are already in the last stages of some strategic deals,” he added. The company is also planning to expand its employee base here with the growing business not just from India but also from the global markets.

“We have some huge projects in the pipeline and therefore we are also looking at increasing our headcount. “The Indian subsidiary is now a 100-member strong team and we hope to reach 250 employees by the end of 2013,” said Mr Sunil S. Kumar, Operational Director at ARS Software Engineering.
