State-owned BHEL today reported a 39.66 per cent growth in profit-after-tax to Rs 6,021 crore for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011.
In the year-ago period, the company had posted a profit-after-tax of Rs 4,311 crore, BHEL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company’s total turnover increased to Rs 43,451 crore in the 2010-11 fiscal from Rs 34,154 crore in the previous year.
Following the announcement, shares of the company shot up by 3.21 per cent to Rs 2,181.60 a piece.
