The CBI carried out searches at the corporate office of Neyveli Lignite Corporation and the residential premises of four NLC officials here in connection with alleged irregularities in award of contracts.
A top company official said today that a 23-member CBI team conducted the searches for six hours last night.
Besides the office and contract section, the raids were also conducted at the residences of officials including Mr B. Sivagnam, Executive Director (Contracts), Mr V. Chandramohan, Officer-Finance Directorate and Mr Suresh, General Manager-Commercial, Mr V Selvaraj, Deputy General Manager, said.
The searches were held following complaints of corruption in awarding contracts and purchase of equipment in mines in the public sector unit.
The team scrutinised records in the contract section and seized some documents.
