The final match of the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore had a viewership rating of 5.8 among all-India Cable and Satellite home audiences (C&S4+), while last year's final had a rating of 5.6.
The final also attracted the highest viewership ratings in the entire tournament, which saw average rating of 2.6, down from last year's average of 3.1.
These ratings are a function of number of people who watched the match and the time they spent watching the match, tracked by aMap.
The viewership ratings for the final provide some solace to brands that picked up spots in bulk across the tournament, and those that bought last-minute spots for an estimated Rs 15 lakh per 10 seconds.
The final match saw a jump in market share for Set Max from 19 per cent through the tournament to 30 per cent. Market share reflects the share of viewers for the broadcaster Set Max during the two innings, of all Indians watching any channel on television in C&S households.
Specific details on the number of viewers tuned in were not available. Viewers also spent more time (55 minutes) watching the final than on other matches (33 minutes), according to aMap.
