GRT Jewellers, the Chennai-based gold retailers, will associate with the State Bank Group FreedomRewards, one of the largest debit card loyalty programmes. It will offer four points for every Rs 100 spent on shopping in its stores.
Mr Anantha Padmanabhan, Managing Director, GRT Jewellers, told newspersons that the retailer was the only FreedomRewardz jewellery partner in South India where consumers can redeem their points against their purchases. This would encourage the bank's debit card holders use their cards more in the shop and in turn help the retailer to benefit from more sales.
Debit card holders in the State Bank group, which has issued nearly 87 million such cards, get 2.5 FreedomPoints on every Rs 100 spent using their cards.
However, GRT will offer four points on every Rs 100 spent on the card. As a pilot project, the new programme was launched a couple of months of ago and nearly 1,500 people have redeemed their points and bought jewellery worth nearly Rs 8 lakh, he said.
