Packaging and sun-control films manufacturer Garware Polyester Ltd on Saturday said its net profit grew more than four-fold to Rs 51.08 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, over the corresponding period a year ago.

The company had a net profit of Rs 10.77 crore for the same quarter last fiscal, Garware Polyester said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Total income increased to Rs 267.83 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 150.20 crore for the same period previous fiscal.

For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2010, net profit rose to Rs 102.75 crore from Rs 25.31 crore in the same period previous year.

Total income increased to Rs 661.90 crore in the nine-month period under review from Rs 453.97 crore during the same period last fiscal.

The company, catering to the need of diverse industries, has a product range that includes films serving the solar control industry, packaging industry and reprographic industry.

Shares of the company closed on Friday at Rs 165.50, up 1.32 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
