In a bid to certify the originality of the liquor available in Goa, the State Excise Department has decided to introduce holograms on the liquor bottles manufactured in the State soon.
With this, tourists, planning to have a booze in Goa during the vacations, can gulp down the contents without the fear of a spurious liquor. But, for that they will have to make sure that the liquor bottle carries a proper hologram.
The Excise Commissioner, Mr P.S. Reddy, said that such a measure is being put in place to make sure that the tourists are not sold spurious or adulterated liquor in the State.
“Hologram will be a multicolour seal that would be tamper-proof and will be pasted on the bottle at the manufacturing facility itself,” he said, adding that it would be unique to the kind of liquor.
“If the hologram is removed, it will be denigrated into pieces,” Mr Reddy said.
Tenders invited
The State Government, which has invited tenders for hologram manufacturing, has sent the samples to IIT Delhi to check the quality of labels.
Goa, which attracts around 24 lakh visitors every year, is a favourite liquor destination with the availability of non-expensive liquor across the State.
