Goodricke Group Ltd, awaiting the final outcome of the wage revision of the Dooars tea gardens, plans to foray into retail iced tea market both in powder and ready-to-drink bottled beverage segments.
“We are planning to enter into retail iced tea market. We will shortly launch sachets of iced tea power through our own distribution network. We are negotiating with a few partners for building a distribution network for the bottled iced tea as beverage,” the Goodricke MD & CEO, Mr Arun N. Singh, said here today.
“A Japanese company has also expressed interest for pre-mix and bottling,” he said on the sidelines of the AGM.
The decision to enter retail iced tea market came after positive results emerged from bulk iced tea business that the company is already into.
About the pending wage revision, Mr Singh said the final round for Dooras’ will happen after the Assembly elections.
“The wage hike for Darjeeling is not possible for Dooars and otherwise half of the gardens would be closed. However, it will be higher than last negotiation,” he said.
