Hero MotoCorp’s Haridwar plant resumed production on Tuesday after three days of shutdown.
The company has taken tough stand against the protesting workers.
These workers were protesting against suspension of one of their colleagues and went on strike last Friday and Saturday.
The workers, on the other hand, have alleged high handedness by the company management.
“On Tuesday, the permanent workers were asked to give undertakings about not involving in any kind of protest. Then suspension letters were delivered to 16 employees,” Sandeep Sharma, nominated leader by the workers, told Business Line . Sharma claimed that many workers did not sign the letter.
The company, however, did not comment on these specifics.
In a statement it said, “Good conduct of our people is the basis of good product attributes for our customers.
“In keeping with our well-established code of conduct and guidelines of discipline applicable to all employees for smooth operations at the plant, appropriate action had already been taken against some erring workers.”
On Tuesday, the workers entered the plant amidst heavy security. “Our Haridwar plant resumed normal operations this morning and production is going on as per schedule. Despatches from the plant have also been as per plan,” the company said.
The whole issue here is about suspension of one Amarnath, a permanent employee.
He was suspended on charge of misrepresenting facts while seeking employment. shishir.s@thehindu.co.in
