Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd has increased its production substantially this financial year to 54,000 DWT till December, according to Commodore. R.B Rao, Executive Director.
He was addressing officers and the staff at HSL on Wednesday on the occasion of the National Productivity Week from February 12-18. He said that during 2009-10, HSL had achieved 67,572 DWT for the whole year and this year the performance would be much better.
Productivity and capacity utilisation (89.8 per cent) had also gone up.
He said HSL was all set to deliver vessels to the Chennai-based Good Earth Maritime Ltd, five inshore patrol vessels to the Indian Coast Guard and a 50-tonne tug to the Visakhapatnam port trust.
He said the shipyard had received orders for eight IPVs from the Coast Guard and six 10-tonne tugs.
An order for 500 T self-propelled barge is expected soon, he said.
The Ministry of Defence is likely to place orders for a submarine and a landing platform dock on nomination basis.
Mr J. Prabhakara Rao, DGM, welcomed the gathering.
