Honda Siel Cars India has promoted Jnaneswar Sen as the company’s Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing.
“In his elevated role, Sen will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic sales and marketing initiatives for Honda Cars in India,” the company said in a statement today.
Mr Sen, who was earlier designated as Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, has been associated with Honda for more than four years and has played a significant role in the company’s growth, it said.
His elevation comes at a challenging time for the company with sales in India declining, while it is also facing a production cut due to constraints in component supply, following the devastating earthquake and tsumani in Japan.
During the fiscal 2010-11, the company had sold 59,463 units against 61,815 units in the previous fiscal, down 3.8 per cent.
Last month, HSCI had said it would temporarily reduce the production of vehicles at its Greater Noida plant from May, due to supply constraints of parts. The plant has an installed capacity to roll out one lakh units per year.
Mr Sen had said: “Till April, we can continue our production. After that, there will be temporary reduction of production”.
