Dr Jamshed J. Irani has resigned as the non-executive Chairman of Everonn Education Ltd. This follows the arrest of the company's CEO, Mr P. Kishore, on Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly bribing an Income-Tax officer.
Dr Irani, former Managing Director of Tata Steel Ltd, was appointed additional director and non-executive Chairman of Everonn on December 9, 2010.
“The exit of the high-profile Dr Irani will be a big blow to the Chennai-based company. With Dr Irani being such a big name, it will be very difficult for Everonn to find a replacement of his calibre and track record,” said an analyst who tracks Everonn.
New ceo
In a related development, Ms Susha John, whole-time director of Everonn, will take over as the CEO. The company's board has also appointed a business council consisting of two independent board members to advise the CEO.
