Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL)'s integrated steel plant and captive power plant in Orissa has received a conditional approval from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF).
JSPL is setting up a six million tonne per annum steel plant and 1,000 MW captive power plant at Kerjang, Angul in Orissa.
Conditions
Among other conditions, the Ministry has directed JSPL to earmark about 2 per cent of its net profit as corporate social responsibility (CSR) budget and adopt dry quenching in coke oven plant to conserve water, use 100 per cent fly ash generated for cement and brick manufacturing and back filling in the captive coal mine and abandoned coal mines.
Further, the Ministry has asked JSPL to develop 33 per cent of the area and use coal gasification technology for manufacturing steel and adopt rainwater harvesting measures.
The company's shares on the BSE gained 0.26 per cent to Rs 648.10 on Tuesday.
