Wind turbine manufacturer Kenersys has inaugurated its multi-megawatt onshore wind turbine manufacturing facility at Baramati, near Pune.
The Baramati facility has been set up on a plot of 35 acres and a built-up area of 5,600 square metres and it will manufacture hundreds of wind turbines of Kenersys type K82 2.0MW, with 82-metre rotor diameters and a total height of 140 metres.
Kenersys is a part of the Kalyani Group and manufactures wind turbine generators.
“Renewable energy represents the next big frontier in the technology industry and wind power is one of the fastest growing energy sources in the world. At Kenersys, we have been able to successfully combine German expertise with the global supply chain capabilities of the Kalyani Group to offer state of the art wind energy solutions to our large quality and technology-conscious customers,” Kenersys Group Chairman, Mr B N Kalyani said in a statement.
“Our new facility is a testament to Kenersys’ commitment to growing our footprint in India,” Mr Kalyani said.
Kenersys India CEO, Mr Kailash Tarachandani said, “India has the third largest wind energy market in the world, with an estimated wind potential of 100 GW onshore. Our new facility is a part of our strategic bid to build our presence in India and this plant underscores our commitment to becoming a major player in the Indian wind market.”
