Water purifier company Kent RO Systems is looking to explore new overseas markets to expand business.

The company is currently exporting to neighbourhood countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

Mahesh Gupta Chairman said: “We believe we have developed good products and have a sound technology. We see potential in Africa, Latin America and other South East Asian countries.”

Expansion plans

As of now, the company gets about 5 per cent of its revenues by exports but expects it to grow to about 10 per cent.

The company also hopes to close this fiscal year with an estimated ₹600 crore in revenues. “We are targeting to touch ₹800 crore next fiscal,” he said.

Talking about the company’s expansion plans, Gupta said that it is in the process of doubling its capacity by March at its existing manufacturing facility at Roorkee with an investment of about ₹30 crore.

“We have recently acquired land in Noida and will start work there. We will look at setting up a new manufacturing facility with an investment of ₹100 crore in the next two years,” he added.

He said the company’s expansion plans will be funded by internal accruals.

Pact with Electrolux

Last year, the company had inked a brand licensing pact with Electrolux for premium range of water purifiers.

Asked how the premium water purifier business is doing under the brand Electrolux, he said, “It will take some time, it has only been about 7-8 months.

“The brand is well known among consumers and they are excited about our products. But its not popular in the trade circles and there are some challenges there that we are working on, but we need to give it more time.”

The company is also bullish on the e-commerce channel, as the Indian consumer’s confidence to buy online grows.

The company has its own portal and tie-ups with other e-commerce players.
