Planning your vacations just got easier. Now, you don’t have to spend hours browsing online travel portals to get the best deals. Just pick up Lonely Planet’s travel guides, specifically intended for Indian travellers, and plan your dream vacation. The new offering is a one-stop-shop with a plethora of travel options in some of the best locations worldwide.

The world’s largest travel guide book and digital media publishers will launch a set of 10 travel guides in September for the Indian traveller planning a holiday abroad. The series will include guide books for outbound destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, Hong Kong, Bhutan, China, London, Great Britain, France and Italy.

Lonely Planet India plans to expand its presence in the Indian market by launching 40 travel guides over a two-year period. “We have started by addressing the outbound travel segment, which is expected to cross 50 million by 2020. And Lonely Planet is the only travel guide that specifically caters to Indian travellers visiting abroad,” said Sesh Seshadri, General Manager, Lonely Planet India.

The company also plans to launch a separate collection of travel guides for the domestic travel market within the next six to eight months. With several travel players already present, what will Lonely Planet’s strategy be for this segment? “Apart from season special travels and weekend gateways, we are exploring options on including various themes such as ‘travelling with cinema’ or a special section on Buddhist circuits,” he said.

While Lonely Planet already has a separate collection of guides on these countries, the Indian traveller series would be differentiated with a yellow and pink colour on the cover as compared to its otherwise blue façade. “We have kept the content precise with lots of pictorial displays that will appeal to the Indian traveller. It will provide short pieces of facts and figures, which will be useful for them,” he added. The 256-page travel guide will be priced at Rs 495.
