MSD India, a fully owned subsidiary of US-based pharmaceutical company Merck & Co, is planning to introduce two new vaccines in India during the year. The company has already launched four vaccines this year and aims to be amongst the top 5 players in India by 2015. MSD has a market share of one per cent in the country.
Pointing out that medicines introduced in India will be priced lower than the global market, Mr K.G. Ananthakrishnan, President and Managing Director of the company, said: “Vaccines launched by us will be India specific and priced reasonably.” The company today launched its rotavirus vaccine to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis deaths in the country.
