The launch of new models has helped sustain the growth momentum for Mahindra & Mahindra while some of the competitors have been struggling to step up volumes in a market witness to a relatively subdued business phase, according to Mr. Mahesh Kulkarni, General Manager, Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Addressing a press conference here today to announce the launch of Mahindra Genio DC pick up in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Kulkarni said that they plan to take it pan India by next month and thereafter explore opportunities to export to some select markets such as South Africa, Middle East and South East Asian countries.

The launch of new range of vehicles based on customer feedback from the automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra stable has sustained the growth momentum. “Since January, we have launched nearly six models in different categories. This has also helped in sustaining volumes. Last quarter we managed to grow by about 27 per cent against 7 per cent of the industry,” he said.

“If it was the launch of Xylo D2 in January, it was followed by Genio single cab in February; Thar introduction was in March, followed by Maxximo Mini in May and Gio in June. We are now offering Genio DC, this followed by other new products and variants will keep the excitement going among buyers,” he said.

"The company currently has a capacity to manufacture about 2,000 Genios a month. But we have not set any specific targets in terms of sales volumes during this fiscal for Genio," he said.

The company plans to bring in mo re fuel options and customised solutions on the Genio platform to cater to different requirements. The Genio DC comes in two variants priced at Rs. 5.51 lakh and Rs.6.01 lakh ex-showroom.
