Quick service restaurant chain Nirula's today announced the launch of a new format in the casual dining space in the Capital targeting customers with more spending power.

Keeping in sync with changing times, India's oldest fast food chain will also start serving alcoholic drinks such as wine and beer to its customers.

“Nirula's has been a strong name in the quick service segment with a customer spending up to Rs 250 on an average at our restaurants. With the new concept, we are targeting customers who spend around Rs 1,000 per head in a casual dining environment,” Nirula's CEO and MD, Mr Samir Kuckreja, told PTI.

Nirula's has plan to convert some of its existing QSR format outlets into the new bigger and revamped casual dining restaurants.

“Once we have tried the new concept, we will also open restaurants at new locations and might also think of having a different brand for the concept,” he added.

Apart from the usual menu such as Hot Chocolate Fudge and the Big Boy Burger, along with new additions in Italian and American cuisine like gourmet burgers, pizzas and pastas, the fast food chain will also serving alcoholic drinks such as wine and beer to customers, he added.

Of late, other restaurant chains such as Barista Lavazza, have also started serving alcoholic drinks.

Nirula's currently operates about 85 QSRs across India and plans to add 50 new by the end of this fiscal.

“We have plans to enter six new cities and expand presence by setting up 50 new Nirula's outlets with an investment of up to Rs 15 crore, a combination of company's funds and franchisees' money,” he said.
