Phillips Carbon Black Ltd reported a net profit of Rs 4.14 crore for the quarter ending September 30, 2014. The company reported a net loss of Rs 21.36 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
During the period, its total income from operations rose by approximately 11 per cent to Rs 660 crore from the Rs 597 crore in the year-ago period.
Segment Results
In terms of contribution towards profit, the power segment – selling of captive power – attributed to over half of the profit before tax (PBT). Power accounted for Rs 21 crore; while PBT stood at Rs 42 crore for the period between July to September this year.
The remaining Rs 21 crore pofit (before tax) came from carbon black.
In the corresponding quarter last year, the carbon black vertical had been in red with a loss of Rs 14 core (before taxes); while power accounted for a PBT of Rs 19 crore.
