Engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd Ltd reported losses during the third quarter, both on consolidated and stand-alone basis, on lower revenues.
On a consolidated basis, the company posted a third-quarter net loss of Rs 62.13 crore, compared with a net profit of Rs 12.48 crore or Re.0.37 a share in the third-quarter of 2009. For the quarter, its net revenue fell by 28 per cent to Rs 2,093.62 crore from the Rs 2,901.62 crore for the same period last year.
For the first nine months of this fiscal, Punj Lloyd posted a net loss of Rs 68.80 crore, compared with a net profit of Rs 192.46 crore for the same period ended December 31, 2009. Total revenue, including “other operating income,” dropped 33 per cent to Rs 5,840.31 crore ( Rs 8,762.27 crore).
As on December 31 , Punj Lloyd Group has an order book of Rs 27,780 crore, which includes new orders for Rs 9,238 crore bagged during the current year, the company said in a statement.
On the BSE, Punj Lloyd shares ended at Rs 78.15, down nearly 11 per cent at the close of Tuesday's trading.
