Radaan Mediaworks I Ltd has joined hands with senior Bollywood actor Anupam Kher to set up an acting academy in Chennai.

The company in tie-up with Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares will give the upcoming artistes an opportunity to get formally trained as actors.

Announcing the initiative at a press conference here today, Ms Radikaa Sarathkumar, Chairperson of Radaan Mediaworks, said Actor Prepares is now six years old and has chapters in Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. And the institute has trained over 500 students in these six years and many of them are established in their careers in films produced in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and also television serials and in the world of modelling, she said.

Radaan has been producing TV serials, movies and reality shows for over two decades now. It has over the years produced over 10,000 episodes of daily soap content catering to the South Indian audience.

Addressing the media, Anupam Kher said the curriculum for Actor Prepares has been prepared after a lot of research and analysis of the best acting schools in the world. Each programme is conducted over a three-month period and will include comprehensive training in performing arts covering yoga, martial arts, etc over a period of three months. The programme is designed to be a full-time programme and training is imparted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all working days.

At the end of the programme, successful people will be given certificates of completion. Each batch is restricted to 50 students and there will be a pre-selection test for all applicants.

Prominent cine as well as television artistes will also be brought in as guest faculty, which will help the students understand the nuances of acting from a practical perspective.
