SAP Labs India has launched a new car policy to encourage its employees to go green in collaboration with Mahindra Reva. The policy allows SAP Labs employees to own and operate a Reva electric car at a minimum cost.
The company is offering a monthly cash incentive of Rs 6,000 and other benefits such as free charging points, reserved parking space and routine maintenance and service. For SAP employees, Mahindra Reva has agreed to extend the warranty and servicing period to 36 months against its standard 24 months.
The first batch of electric cars was handed over to four employees by Mr V.R. Ferose, Managing Director, SAP Labs India, and Mr Chetan Maini, Chief of Strategy and Technology, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles.
The Green Car Policy is in line with ‘Future Fleet', a global research programme initiated by SAP to test the use of electric vehicles powered by energy generated exclusively from renewable sources. SAP targets to introduce around 100 electric vehicles into its car fleet in Walldorf, Germany, and the surrounding area by end of 2011. SAP Labs India is aiming to be the largest contributor to this initiative with a line-up of 35 electric cars. It is also hoping that electric cars will account for 30 per cent of its car fleet in India in five years.
